Images of Breast Conditions

The University of North Carolina (UNC) Department of Radiology provides users with the opportunity to view several images of breast conditions online. Each image is part of a case study on a particular breast condition. Users simply click on a condition of choice to pull up the case file. The case file gives a brief description of the patient and the patient’s medical history. Users may then scroll down to view an image of the breast condition. A brief discussion section at the bottom of each page explains the image and provides general information on the breast condition, including how the patient’s diagnosis was made.

Users may view the following breast conditions in the mammography section of the UNC Radiology Teaching File:

The site is managed by Dr. J. Keith Smith, MD, PhD, and all case material for the mammography section of the Teaching File is provided by Dr. Etta Pisano, MD, Chief of Breast Imaging and Professor of Radiology at UNC. In addition to breast conditions, users may view a variety of other case studies. Topics include: chest, gastrointestinal, genito-urinary, musculoskeletal, neuroradiology, and pediatric conditions. Physicians and researchers may also submit their case studies to be posted on the UNC Radiology Teaching File website.
